Local Liaison Committee
The LLC brings together representatives from local authorities in Berkshire and Hampshire
The Local Liaison Committee provides an important platform for local people to gain a better understanding of AWE’s activities and to raise questions through their elected representative on the Committee. The Local Liaison Committee members represent around half a million residents who live in the boroughs and parishes around the AWE sites.
A platform for open dialogue
Committee meetings provide members with an overview of our operations, updates on emergency planning as well as details of our environment safety and health performance. Representatives of AWE’s independent regulators – the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) and the Environment Agency – also attend the meetings, giving independent updates on company performance and progress. They also produce a summary performance report, which is shared with members at the meetings and published on their websites.
We are also able to share the latest information about our community programmes and LLC members are encouraged to submit agenda items of interest to their local communities. Questions from residents are also welcomed and these can be sent to an LLC member or to the LLC secretary via our community email address [email protected]
After each meeting, detailed minutes are produced and published as a formal record of the topics discussed.
