THE QUALIFICATIONS YOU’LL NEED
Five GCSE’s at Grade 4/C or above to include Maths and English.
You’ll need to be a British Citizen for security clearance.
You’ll be based at our Aldermaston or Burghfield site with one day a week off-site at college.
At AWE, we operate on a nine-day fortnight – meaning you get every other Friday off work in addition to 270 hours of annual leave.

You’ll begin your journey at our Aldermaston site, where you’ll build the essential skills and knowledge that form the foundation of your career. This is where you’ll start turning curiosity into capability.
Part of your training will take place offsite at Culham, where you’ll gain exposure to new environments and perspectives. We’ll take care of the transport, and we’ll do our best to make sure travel fits within your working day.
Once you’ve built your core skills, you’ll move into a live working environment. Alongside hands-on experience, you’ll continue your academic journey and work toward your Level 3 Technical Certificate in Mechatronics Engineering.
