You’ll also learn how to maintain specialist tools used in the processing of nuclear and explosive materials.

•    Patience when approaching complex tasks
•    Good communication skills
•    The ability to follow instructions
•    IT skills

Your journey

In your apprenticeship, you’ll build the foundations of a career that matters. During the Foundation phase, based at our Skills Academy, you’ll learn how to select and use tools correctly, manufacture test pieces, and carry out maintenance tasks in a simulated environment.

After around 18 months, you’ll move into the Consolidation phase, joining site-based Mechanical Maintenance teams where you’ll put your skills into practice in real-world settings, working on the equipment that keeps our mission moving.
