Your mission

Human Resources (HR) at AWE is a vital part of how we enable our people to thrive.

You’ll be part of the team that helps shape a positive employee experience, ensuring our people feel supported, valued, and empowered to do their best work. Along the way, you’ll build essential skills, contribute to meaningful projects, and play a role in delivering our mission.

THE QUALIFICATIONS YOU’LL NEED

Five GCSE’s at Grade 4/C or above to include Maths and English.

You’ll need to be a British Citizen for security clearance.

WORK PATTERN

You’ll be based at our Green Park site with one day a week off-site at college.

At AWE, we operate on a nine-day fortnight – meaning you get every other Friday off work in addition to 270 hours of annual leave.

Your journey

As an HR apprentice, you’ll gain hands-on experience across several key areas of the function through a series of placements, each one designed to build your confidence, broaden your skills, and help you make a meaningful impact from day one.

These include case management, where you’ll support investigations, disciplinaries, and absence management; reward and recognition, helping to govern reward processes and celebrate staff achievements; and recruitment, assisting with both internal and external hiring.

You’ll also work alongside our HR Business Partners to understand how we support the organisation at both tactical and strategic levels, contribute to learning and development initiatives, and provide frontline support through our HR Help Desk.
