At AWE, electronic design is essential.
The systems you help create will support the safety, security, and reliability of the UK’s nuclear deterrent. You’ll be part of a team that pushes the boundaries of innovation while upholding the highest standards of precision and responsibility.
This apprenticeship follows the embedded electronic systems design and development engineer (degree) standard.
THE QUALIFICATIONS YOU’LL NEED
TBC.
You’ll need to be a British Citizen for security clearance.
You’ll be based at one of our sites with one day a week off-site at college.
At AWE, we operate on a nine-day fortnight – meaning you get every other Friday off work in addition to 270 hours of annual leave.

Your first year will be all about learning by doing. You’ll split your time between hands-on project work and part-time college study, building a strong foundation in electronic theory and practical skills.
You’ll design and construct real circuits, explore how components work together, and learn how to document and report your findings.
These early projects are more than just exercises. They leads to roles designing and developing electronic circuits, devices and systems.
To succeed in this role, you’ll need a sharp analytical mindset and a collaborative spirit.
You’ll also aware of potential risks and how to manage them responsibly.
