At AWE, civil engineering plays an integral part in shaping the critical infrastructure that supports our current and future programme requirements.
As a civil engineering degree apprentice, you’ll combine on site practical learning with once a week university attendance to achieve a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
You’ll learn the basics of construction practice, contract management, structural mechanics, hydraulics, geotechnics, highways, land surveying and CAD design. You’ll put your learning into practice with live projects assessing existing structures and foundations on site, providing valuable contributions to our major infrastructure projects while you learn.
THE QUALIFICATIONS YOU’LL NEED
Five GCSE’s at Grade 4/C or above to include Maths, English and a Science subject.
A minimum of 102 UCAS points or existing relevant Level 3 qualifications.
You’ll need to be a British Citizen for security clearance.
You’ll be based at our Aldermaston site with one day a week off-site at University / college.
At AWE, we operate on a nine-day fortnight – meaning you get every other Friday off work in addition to 270 hours of annual leave.

In your degree apprenticeship, you’ll build the foundations of a career that matters.
