C&I Apprenticeship

Want to find out more?

Your mission

C&I engineers create, simplify and automate processes. They deal with systems that measure and control all kinds of things – from the flow of water to the temperature of a furnace. Your goal is to make sure these complex processes can take place at the simple press of a button.

You’ll be based at one of our sites with one day a week off-site at college.

•    A practical aptitude for engineering or technology
•    Excellent team working skills
•    Good communication skills
•    Awareness of health and safety
•    The ability to follow instructions

Your journey

It all begins in our Skills Academy. You’ll attend a range of lectures designed to increase your knowledge and understanding of a wide range of circuits and systems. Importantly, you will also learn and develop vital control and instrumentation skills by completing various projects.

Once your training at the Academy is complete, you’ll move to the highly practical, on-site phase of training. Taking part in a variety of different placements, you will use your new skills to maintain, repair, install and calibrate equipment that is used across AWE. You will spend the whole second half of your apprenticeship on placements.

Think you’ve got what it takes?

We’re looking for people who are curious about how things work..
You might be fascinated by how engineering systems are controlled, how Building Management Systems keep environments running smoothly, or how safety systems protect people and processes.

You’re someone who wants to take engineering principles off the page and apply them in the real world. You don’t just want to understand the theory – you want to see it in action, solve problems, and keep learning as you go.
