Sir John Manzoni

Chairman

Sir John Manzoni is Chairman of the AWE Board and SSE Board.

Sir John also sits as a Non-Executive Director on the boards of Diageo plc and KBR, Inc. Prior to this, Sir John was a member of the BP plc main board (2003-2007), later joining the Civil Service in 2014 as Chief Executive of the Major Projects Authority (MPA), before his appointment to Permanent Secretary of the Cabinet Office (2015 -2020).

Previously, Sir John held the position of President and CEO of Canadian oil and gas company Talisman Energy Inc. He has more than thirty years’ experience in the private sector. During his twenty-four years at BP, his expertise contributed to the company’s global growth, and he held senior strategic and operational leadership roles at global, regional, and local level. Between 2002 and 2007, he was Chief Executive of Refining and Marketing, spanning six different businesses across more than 100 countries.
