Senior Planner and First Level Leader

How long have you worked at AWE?
six years

What is your role?
As a Senior Planner I lead and manage project support teams. As a team we provide support to the Control Account Manager and project managers. We do this by developing and maintaining accurate, cost loaded plans that give a realistic view of progress and provide analysis of project data to aid decision making.

Why did you choose AWE?
I wanted to work for a company that would not just support my career development but actively encourage it!

Tell us about your time at AWE?
Supporting projects at AWE means I enjoy a varied calendar where no two days are the same. Within my current project my days involve leading planning workshops, where the project team come together and discuss how they are going to deliver the project and what dependencies they have. I then take this top-level information and develop it into a plan. Using a wealth of knowledge from the resources around me I can soon build plans with accurate activities that are cost loaded and driven by relationships, then add metrics that allow progress to be reported and analysed.

What are the benefits of AWE?
The opportunities to develop and progress at AWE are unlike anywhere else. The work is varied, interesting, and important. The part each individual plays is not only recognised but celebrated.

What do you most enjoy about your current role?
Working so closely with the project team and understanding how my role contributes to project delivery. I enjoy the team mentality.

How do you see your career progressing?
There are many different roles I could progress into; the enjoyment now is trialling them out and seeing which is the best fit for me!

What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about joining the AWE?
Do it! I started six years ago as an assistant planner and have never looked back.
