Build technical skills, grow professionally and work with remarkable people on products that help keep the UK safe and secure.
You’ll kick off your journey in the first three months immersing yourself with the ESH&Q function and understanding our broader business. From there, you’ll get stuck into placements tailored to your chosen discipline, giving you a chance to develop hands-on expertise and gain exposure across the organisation.
When applying you’ll need to pick either environment, nuclear safety case or quality to specialise in.

You’ll be based at our Aldermaston site near Reading.
We work a nine-day fortnight. That means every other Friday off work and 270 hours of annual leave.

Play a key role in helping AWE meet its environmental responsibilities.
A minimum of a 2:2 in your degree, typically Environmental Science; Environmental Management; Geography; or Geology.
Assess the risk and consequences of design, engineering and operational failures.
A minimum of a 2:2 in Science or Engineering. Typically Nuclear Engineering; Nuclear materials; Chemical Engineering; Chemistry or Physics. An interest in safety is a plus.
Bring new ideas whilst maintaining robust standards.
A minimum of a 2:2 in your degree, typically Science or Engineering-based degrees plus an interest in quality is desirable.
