Applications are open now and close on 13th April 2025. We will close early if we get a large number of applications, so don’t delay!

By joining AWE’s Engineering Masters Scheme, you will receive accelerated training to join a focussed team as a technical specialist. From there, you can create your onward career pathway, with our professional development support to Chartership and beyond. If you’re looking for a focused role with intrigue and something that really makes a difference to the safety and security of the UK, then now is the time to join AWE.

AWE’s challenging work calls for people from all backgrounds, a range of technical disciplines and different career stages. AWE offers an inclusive working environment where staff can be their authentic selves. The Engineering Masters Scheme is an important part of this rich landscape.

Distinct from our  ‘Evolve’ graduate development programme, the Engineering Masters Scheme offers a route for early career engineers who want a focused path to becoming a technical specialist.

We are seeking:

  • new and recent engineering and science graduates;
  • people 1-3 years into their post-graduation technical career;
  • people who are excited by the prospect of a technically-focused career, with the potential to become a specialist engineering expert.

You must have, or be predicted, at least 2:2 in your degree.

You’ll receive:

  • your MSc course fees paid for, by us;
  • £31,000 salary during the 12-month Masters course, with a competitive salary upon completion;
  • support to achieve Chartership through the relevant professional engineering institution;
  • generous holiday entitlement;
  • excellent pension scheme (AWE will contribute up to 13% of your pensionable salary, dependent on your own contribution);
  • access to discounts on a wide range of everyday spending across retail, hospitality and leisure;
  • Employee Assistance Programme, Occupational Health Services and wellbeing benefits.

Alongside these benefits, you will get the opportunity to learn from top engineering leaders from universities and AWE.
