Another Year of Inspiring Future Talent in STEM
As the 2025–2026 academic year draws to a close, AWE is celebrating another successful year of inspiring young people through its school engagement programme. Thanks to the dedication of our team of over 400 STEM Ambassadors, thousands of students across our local communities have had the opportunity to explore STEM subjects, discover exciting career pathways and gain insight into the range of opportunities available at AWE.
Reaching Young People Across Our Communities
Over the past academic year, AWE directly engaged with 227 schools and colleges, strengthening relationships with educators and helping ensure students have access to meaningful careers education and STEM enrichment opportunities.
The impact of these activities has been significant:
- 66,191 young people reached
- 523 school engagement sessions delivered
- 227 schools and colleges engaged
Every interaction provided an opportunity to spark curiosity and help students understand how the subjects they study today can connect to rewarding careers in the future.
Bringing STEM to Life
Throughout the year, colleagues volunteered their time and expertise to deliver a diverse programme of activities designed to engage students of all ages and backgrounds.
Activities included:
- Interactive STEM workshops
- Careers presentations and assemblies
- Careers fairs
- Mock interviews
- Guest speaker sessions
- Orion takeovers
- STEM workshops
These experiences gave young people the opportunity to hear directly from professionals, explore real-world applications of STEM subjects and gain greater awareness of the many career paths available within the sector.
Building a Future Talent Pipeline
Our school engagement programme is designed to support young people at every stage of their educational journey.
From inspiring primary school pupils through hands-on STEM activities, to helping secondary school and college students make informed GCSE, post-16 and career decisions, the programme connects classroom learning with the world of work. It also raises awareness of apprenticeship, undergraduate and graduate opportunities, helping to build a pipeline of future talent while strengthening AWE’s connection to the communities we serve.
