Meet AWE at DPRTE 2025

AWE is pleased to announce that we will be exhibiting at DPRTE again this year. DPRTE is the UK’s leading defence procurement and supply chain event, taking place on 26 and 27 March at the Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre.

Alongside our stand, AWE has the following speaking slots where we will be engaging with industry:

26 March 2025

  • Astraea as a National Endeavour, 10:35-10:55 in the Science and Innovation Zone, Nick Franklin, Commercial Lead Astraea.
  • AWE’s Infrastructure Investments to Support the UK’s Nuclear Defence Programme, 11:10-11:30 in the Infrastructure and Estates Zone, Simon Elphick, Head of Delivery.
  • Partners in Innovation: Future-proofing UK Defence, 14:15-14:35 in the Science and Innovation Zone, a joint panel session between the Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) and AWE.

27 March 2025

  • Improving AWE’s Resilience, Capacity & Capability through Enhanced Collaboration with UK Industry, 11:15-11:35 in the Equipment and Supplies Zone, Mandy Savage, Executive Director Engineering and Project, Programme and Portfolio Management.

These sessions will provide attendees with valuable insights into AWE’s ongoing projects and future plans. AWE will be at Stand 61 with members of our Commercial team and Programmes ready to engage with the best of UK business.

AWE joins RAICo

The Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Collaboration (RAICo) has announced the addition of AWE – a UK leader in nuclear technology and innovation – as its fifth member organisation. AWE joins the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), Sellafield Ltd, the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA), and the University of Manchester in this integrated collaboration.

VE Day at Aldermaston

80 years ago, the European part of the Second World War came to an end. On the 8th of May 1945 - known as Victory in Europe Day or VE Day - celebrations erupted around the world to mark this.  Aldermaston had played its part in the liberation of Western Europe as it formed the launch point and training ground for American airborne operations for the 101st Airborne Division, nicknamed the "Screaming Eagles”, during D-Day a year earlier and the failed Operation Market Garden.
