AWE receives Armed Forces Covenant award

AWE has been recognised for its commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant (AFC) with a Silver Award under the Employer Recognition Scheme.

AWE’s Ian Moore and Jason Holmes recently received the award from Maj Gen Marc Overton TD DL VR, Assistant Chief of Defence Staff (Reserves and Cadets) in a ceremony at the RAF Club.

Ian, who leads AWE veterans, reservists, and cadet volunteer network, said it was an honour to collect the award:

“AWE are proud members of the Employers Recognition Scheme and Armed Forces Covenant. We recognise the benefits it brings to our organisation.

“We have over 300 veterans and reservists amongst our staff, me included. We are really proud to know that AWE values our service, and the skills and experiences we bring. The reservists amongst us, also appreciate the support the company gives us to continue our service and training.”

Jason said: “The skills and training that former military personnel bring to civilian employers include business and technical qualifications, as well as key skills such as leadership, team working, strategy and problem-solving, tested in the most challenging environments.

“AWE will continue to make our workplace one of most supportive available to veterans, reservists, and their families. We want them to develop and thrive here and we’re already aiming for our Gold Award!”
