AWE scoops two Diversity and Inclusion Awards
AWE has won the enei Neurodiversity Award plus a Bronze Award for its work on diversity and inclusion (D&I) at the enei 2019 Awards.
AWE joined enei (Employers Network for Equality and Inclusion) the leading employer network for all aspects of equality, diversity and inclusion in the UK, in January 2018.
Meg Hunt, AWE’s Director of HR, said
“we rightly have huge sense of pride in our achievements and this recognition of our work in creating a truly inclusive culture enabling everyone to grow and contribute”.
Our entry for the Neurodiversity award highlighted some great work across AWE. James Cody and Paul Ryan have delivered many awareness sessions on Autism and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder respectively. Externally, they’ve also delivered valuable awareness training to UK Security Vetting officers.
Jo Walker and Paul Chalwin also featured, for their work with local school Dove House for students with learning disabilities. Jo and Paul, with Russell Brooks and Marc Godfrey, also enabled two students to undertake a trial period with us, leading to permanent employment.
AWE supports any employee who believes they may be on the Autism Spectrum to receive assessment and diagnoses. Our award-winning Skills Academy provides every new apprentice with an assessment of their learning ability, ensuring that each is supported appropriately throughout their apprenticeship.
Tony Mather, AWE’s Chief Information Officer and Executive Lead for Diversity and Inclusion, added:
“I’m delighted that we have received external recognition for our approach to D&I with the Bronze Award. It demonstrates that we’re doing the right things to ensure we are an inclusive employer.
“I am especially proud of the recognition of our employees who achieved the Neurodiversity Award. They go out of their way to provide education and support to others covering all aspects of Neurodiversity, from dyslexia to autism and I thank them for their contribution”.
